Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says:That Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) accompanied the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from Yemen He sent some gold in a leather bag, which had not even been cleaned of dirt. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave that gold to four people. He divided it between Anna ibn Badr, Iqra ibn Habith, Zaid ibn Khil, and the fourth, Al-Qama or Amir ibn tufail One of the companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:We were more deserving than those people. So when this matter reached the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), he said:Do you not consider me trustworthy, while I am trustworthy in the sight of the people of the heavens? I have news of it from morning to evening. The narrator states that then a man stood up.Whose eyes were sunken in, his cheekbones were prominent, his forehead was high, his beard was thick, his head was shaved, and he was wearing a high apron. He said, “O Messenger of Allah, fear Allah.” The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Then perish. Am I not more deserving of fearing Allah than all the people of the earth?”So when that man turned to leave, Hazrat Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “O Messenger of Allah, should I not behead him?”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Don’t do that, perhaps he is a worshipper.” Hazrat Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “There are many worshippers who do not have what is on their tongues in their hearts.”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I have not been commanded to pierce people’s hearts and rip open their bellies. The narrator says: He turned away, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) looked at him again and said:From his back will come people who will keep their tongues moist with the recitation of the Book of Allah, but the Quran will not descend from their throats. They will depart from the religion like an arrow departs from its prey.I think that you, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), also said that if I find these people, I will kill them like the people of Thamud.

And a narration by Muslim adds that Hazrat Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said, “O Messenger of Allah, should I not behead this hypocrite?”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “No.” Then the man left. Then Hazrat Khalid Saifullah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and said, “O Messenger of Allah, should I not behead this hypocrite?”The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: No, from his descendants there will be people who will recite the Quran very well. Amara said: I think that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said: If I had found these people, I would have killed them like the people of Thamud.
